~*~ Hummingbird ~*~

I finished it! I worked on the blocks at the retreat in the evenings last week and then this weekend I made more blocks, trimmed, and put the top together. I unplugged my iron, turned the TV off and shut down the sewing machine at 12:30 this morning....but, it's done and I won't have to put it away and drag it back out any more :)

Here's my Hummingbird!

Fabrics: Recess by Sandy Klopp for Moda (few years old)
Pattern: Hummingbird by Darlene Zimmerman.
Rulers:  30 deg angle template and the companion angle.

I'm lovin' the finished top! Puttsy piecing / trimming is so rewarding :)

5" finished block size +sashing
Can't wait to see it quilted!

Darlene Zimmerman Class: Part 1

Happy Monday Friends!
The past weekend, Darlene Zimmerman-Feed sack Lady, graced the Calico Hutch with her presence. In the class we worked on her "Postage Stamp Posies". Here are some snaps:

The quilt hanging as the background is the project we were diligently stitching away on.
Cut....cut...cut...and then press and cut some more!
Getting ready to make one of the many strip sets.....
Working on her alternate blocks....I think....
Think....think....think....sew....sew....sew...think...think...think....
Shhh....I'm concentrating!!!
I hope you've enjoyed seeing a little glimpse of the class!
Coming in future posts: Darlene's Trunk Show and a reveal of my Postage Stamp Posies out of Civil War prints.

I will never look at a postage stamp the same again!
Enjoy your day!

Pineapple Nine Patch Class: Part 1

I'm so excited, I remembered my camera on Saturday when I went to the Cathy Wierzbicki class!
Here are some random shots of the action!

As you can see, we had a good time with lots of:
Learning
Concentrating
Socializing
Sewing
*gasps* Ripping
Eating
and Smiling :)
It was a good time!
Pop back tomorrow to see some finished blocks!
I love all the different color combos everyone came up with-
personalities really shine through fabric!
